Mumbai has recorded 191 mm of rainfall so far in August, well below the monthly average of 560.8 mm.

A weather system over Odisha and West Bengal is expected to strengthen into a depression but remain over eastern India.

As it stays away from western and central India, it is unlikely to bring a strong monsoon spell to Mumbai.

The city may receive light to moderate showers until August 18, while heavier rain could occur over southern Konkan. Rainfall around Mumbai is expected to reduce afterwards, with subdued monsoon conditions likely for about a week.
