Cyclone Arnab formed over the Bay of Bengal on Monday, 26 October, and is moving towards the Andhra Pradesh coast.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the storm could intensify into an extremely severe cyclonic storm on 27 October.

It is expected to cross the Andhra Pradesh coast between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam on the morning of 28 October.

Wind speeds could reach 115–125 km/h, with gusts up to 140 km/h. Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected across coastal Andhra Pradesh on 27 and 28 October.

Residents should prepare for possible flooding, power cuts and travel disruptions. Fishermen are advised to avoid the sea, while coastal communities should follow official weather warnings.
