Are We More Vulnerable to Extreme Weather?

Heat has been on the rise in most Indian cities

We are becoming increasingly vulnerable to extreme weather events such as heatwaves, floods, cyclones and intense rainfall.

Most of our districts are now exposed to climate-related disasters, highlighting the growing risks across the country.

Experts say rising global temperatures and changing climate patterns are making these events more frequent and severe.

In recent years, India has witnessed prolonged heatwaves, erratic monsoon rains, and devastating floods that have affected millions of people and damaged crops and infrastructure.

Reports indicate that extreme weather occurred on most days in recent years, leaving little time for normal weather conditions.

Coastal regions, river deltas and densely populated cities remain highly vulnerable, stressing the urgent need for climate-resilient planning and stronger disaster preparedness in India.
