Monsoon Withdrawal from the West

Monsoon withdrawal from the west

The southwest monsoon continues to withdraw from western parts of India, marking a gradual transition towards the post-monsoon season.

Drier conditions are becoming more common across areas where the monsoon has retreated, while rainfall activity remains possible farther south and east.

As the withdrawal progresses, northwest and western India are likely to experience more sunshine and lower chances of widespread rain. However, isolated showers may still occur depending on local weather systems.

Meanwhile, parts of central, eastern and southern India may continue to receive rain and thunderstorms as moisture remains available. The withdrawal process is expected to advance further across the country in the coming days, gradually bringing an end to the 2026 southwest monsoon season.
