Heavy rainfall has caused damage in Beijing and the surrounding area. At least 34 people have been killed. In Hebei province, at least four people died in a landslide.

Roads were flooded, cars washed away and electricity pylons damaged. A reservoir in Miyun reached its highest level since 1959. Over 80,000 people had to be evacuated due to the floodwaters.

Numerous tourist facilities closed due to the severe weather. Bus and train services were also disrupted. The weather in the region is expected to calm down over the next few days. However, more heavy rain is forecast for next weekend.
