Rain and Thunderstorms to Increase

Pre-monsoon weather activity will increase across India from the last week of April and continue into early May 2026.

Rain and thunderstorms will happen in phases in many parts, except Gujarat and Konkan. North India, including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, will see more storms from April 26.

Northeast India will get widespread rain with some heavy spells till May 2. South India, including Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana, will also see showers and thunderstorms.

This rise in pre-monsoon rain is a positive sign and suggests that the southwest monsoon may arrive on time this year.
