Weather Update - Heavy Rain and Thunderstorm Across Northeast

Pre-monsoon activity has picked up pace across Northeast India, bringing heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.

Guwahati recorded 117 mm rain in the last 24 hours, the highest this season. Several parts of Assam, including Dhubri and Golaghat, also received moderate showers.

Weather conditions remain favourable for more rain across Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, and Nagaland this week and beyond.

Between April 20 and 22, intense activity is expected over Upper Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, with cities like Dibrugarh and Itanagar at higher risk.

A short break is likely on April 23, but rain will intensify again from April 24. Thunderstorms and lightning will be frequent, especially during evening and night hours across the region.
