Fresh Snow Returns to Western Himalayas

Parts of Jammu and Kashmir set to witness active snowy conditions

Mid and higher reaches of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh received fresh snowfall between 2 and 3 February 2026.

The activity was widespread but mostly light to moderate. Snowfall will continue today before easing around mid-week. A brief and light spell is expected on 6 February, followed by a stronger system between 8 and 10 February.

After remaining largely dry till late January, the region has seen a sharp recovery in rain and snow deficit. Recent snowfall, especially in Manali, Kullu, Chamba, and Lahaul-Spiti, will help sustain rivers and water sources during summer.

With Chillai Kalan over, weather conditions in Kashmir are expected to gradually improve.
