Heavy Rain Alert for Uttar Pradesh

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected across parts of Uttar Pradesh today, with western districts likely to receive the most intense showers.

The foothills bordering Uttarakhand and Nepal are also expected to witness heavy rain along with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds. Today is likely to be the peak of this active monsoon spell.

The weather is being driven by the monsoon trough remaining close to the Himalayan foothills, supported by a Western Disturbance over the northern mountains.

Districts including Lucknow, Kanpur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Moradabad, Etawah and Mainpuri are at higher risk of heavy rain.

Residents should remain alert for waterlogging, localised flooding, traffic disruptions and lightning over the next couple of days.
