Heavy Rains to Lash East, Central & West

Heavy rains set to lash parts of Northeast

Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation, a low-pressure area has formed over the west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal, likely to strengthen soon.

Moving slowly towards north coastal Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha, the system will bring heavy rains to south Odisha, north Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and south Chhattisgarh today.

Rain will spread to Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra in the next two days, reaching Rajasthan and Gujarat by 16–17 August.

Another system from Myanmar’s Gulf of Martaban will enter the Bay on 16 August, possibly turning into a depression.

With monsoon revival underway, expect localized flooding across Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Konkan & Goa, and Gujarat over the next week. Caution advised.
