Monsoon Races Through Gujarat

Southwest Monsoon surged across Gujarat in just two days, completing its advance by June 17, nearly two weeks ahead of the usual June 30 timeline.

This rapid spread brought widespread rain to 208 of 252 talukas, with Botad’s Barwala recording a staggering 191 mm.

A strong monsoon trough and low‑pressure system now promise heavy to very heavy showers across districts like Aravalli, Dahod, Navsari, and more.

Meanwhile, the monsoon has advanced into Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Jharkhand, giving relief to heat‑hit northern and central India after a stalled start.

Eastern Uttar Pradesh is expected to see monsoon arrival within the next 2–3 days, bringing further respite
