Cyclonic Storm Remal started landfall and progressing towards inner West Bengal and Bangladesh on Sunday night.

Red and Orange Alerts have been issued for districts in Assam. Heavy rains are likely to continue in West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh. Projected landfall between the coasts of Bangladesh and West Bengal.

The cyclone is likely to intensify further and move northeastwards, reaching the northeast and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal by the evening of 25th May.

From Saturday, its effects could be felt in West Bengal, Odisha, Tripura, Mizoram, and neighbouring Bangladesh with heavy rains and strong winds.

Current Update

  • West Bengal: Light to moderate rainfall is expected to begin from 24th May, intensifying to heavy to very heavy rainfall. Extremely heavy rainfall is also anticipated in certain areas.
  • North Odisha (Coastal Areas): Isolated heavy rainfall is expected, accompanied by wind speeds of 40-50 kmph.

Ensure you have emergency supplies and stay updated on weather alerts to stay safe during this period.
