Monsoon Devastation in Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh is reeling under severe monsoon fury, with cloudbursts and landslides disrupting life across multiple districts.

Mandi district recorded 217 mm of rainfall in 24 hours, triggering flash floods that damaged homes, vehicles, and bridges.

The Beas River is overflowing, and authorities have released 1.5 lakh cusecs of water from the Pandoh Dam to manage the inflow.

The IMD has issued a red alert for 10 districts, including Shimla and Mandi, warning of continued heavy rainfall and landslide risks.

Key roads, including the Chandigarh-Shimla highway, are blocked, and the Shimla-Kalka heritage railway line has been suspended.

Tourists are advised to avoid travel to the region until conditions improve.
