After an unusually dry winter in Jammu and Kashmir, the region faced severe fears of a water crisis.

Streams, rivers, and ponds dried up, raising concerns for the upcoming summer. However, intermittent rainfall and snow in the past few weeks have brought much-needed relief. A

According to the IMD, the rain deficit is now near neutral, with the Kashmir Valley receiving 143 mm of rain compared to the normal 237 mm by mid-March.

The rain has rejuvenated water bodies, providing hope to the horticultural sector, particularly fruit growers, who were worried about crop damage.

While the situation is improving, experts urge continued rainfall to ensure adequate water supplies throughout the summer.
