A low-pressure system over the southern Bay of Bengal is expected to strengthen and bring heavy rains to Tamil Nadu, especially between December 11th and 12th, 2024.

Nearby suburbs, including Tambaram and Tiruvallur, are also at risk of flooding. This weather may disrupt travel, with roads, rail, and flights likely impacted by waterlogging and traffic snarls.

Although Chennai fell short of its November rainfall average, this rain spell is expected to exceed December's normal of 182.4mm, replenishing water bodies and reservoirs.

However, authorities must manage these resources carefully to prevent flooding or other crises. Residents are advised to prepare for wet conditions and possible disruptions.
