Unusual Heatwave in Pune

Pune, Maharashtra’s second largest city, is facing an intense heat wave with temperatures soaring above 43°C. Known for its pleasant climate, Pune is now battling scorching days and unusually warm nights. The Lohegaon airport recorded a high of 43.2°C and a minimum of 26.6°C, both the season’s highest. This rare double heat attack is caused by hot winds from Madhya Pradesh and a weather system called an anticyclone, which traps heat.

Normally cool, Pune’s weather has taken a fiery turn. With dry winds and no sign of rain, temperatures above 40°C are expected to continue this week.
